A large fire has broken out near the Wet 'n Wild water park at Universal Orlando, destroying equipment for an upcoming attraction, officials in Florida say. There fire has since been extinguished and there are no injuries. (more)
The incident began at around 2:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday when a fire broke out in a lot along I-Drive where equipment was being stored for Volcano Bay, which is currently under construction at Wet 'n Wild and is scheduled to open in 2017.
The fire spread quickly and large plumes of black smoke could be seen rising from the area, but the blaze was quickly brought under control and extinguished within 30 minutes. It is believed slide parts and other material has been destroyed, though it was not clear whether all of the equipment is part of Volcano Bay.
There were no injuries, according to the Orlando Fire Department..
