Police and other emergency services in Arkansas are at the scene of a shooting outside the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park in Little Rock, officials say. One victim has been located and taken to hospital. (more)
The incident happened at about 8:15 p.m. on Monday when police were called to reports of a shooting in the visitor parking lot of the presidential library. Police rushed to the scene and located one victim in the otherwise mostly empty parking lot.
A spokesperson for the Little Rock Police Department said the victim was shot in the leg and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His or her identity was not immediately known.
As for the motive, investigators believe that it was likely a robbery that turned violent as the victim was selling blue jeans. The "incident is not at all related to the upcoming presidential election," police said in a statement.
No arrests were immediately made.
