Active shooter at Knights Inn in Glade Spring, Virginia

          Police and other emergency services in Virginia are responding to an active shooter at the Knights Inn on Maple Street in Glade Spring, local officials and witnesses say. Only few details were immediately available. (more)

The incident began on early Friday evening when officers and deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office were called to reports of shots being fired at the Knights Inn, which is located at 12412 Maple Street, right between Interstate 81 and Lee Highway.

According to initial reports, at least one person has been shot who has been airlifted to an area hospital. His or her condition was not immediately known. There was no immediate word about what may have led to the shooting.

The suspect was not in custody as of 9:30 p.m. and a large number of emergency services are at the scene. The suspect - whose identity was not immediately released - has been described as a Hispanic male. He is thought to be holed up inside one of the rooms at Knights Inn.
