Washington Amber Alert: Summer Fechner abducted from Mead

UPDATE: This amber alert has been canceled. Father and child have been found safe.

A Washington State Amber Alert has been issued for 16-month-old Summer Fechner after she was allegedly taken from Mead in Spokane County by her biological father, local officials say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911.

Summer was taken by her biological father, 37-year-old David Reed, on Monday. It was discovered on Tuesday that Reed had quit his new job and reportedly tried to sell the child's stroller for money to go to a garage sale.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said Reed has a history of drug use and bi-polar activity. "Attempts to contact him have not been successful and there are concerns for the child's welfare," the amber alert said.

Reed is believed to have taken his daughter in a 1993 green Ford Explorer with Washington state license plate BFW5796. It is unknown where he may be taking Summer.

Reed is a 37-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. Summer is described as a 16-month-old white girl with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 3 feet tall. She was last seen wearing a white/brown and pink sundress.

Anyone who sees either Summer, Reed, or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office at 509-456-2233 if you have any other information that could help investigators.
