The incident happened just after 6 a.m. on Monday when Josue was allegedly taken from the San Antonio area, but specific details about the circumstances of his abduction were not immediately released.

The child is believed to have been taken in a green 1998 Ford Mustang with Texas license plate DD2P676. The vehicle has a ripped black convertible top, damage on the front left, a broken right tail light, back glass falling out, and a portable gas tank is visible.

"Police are looking for unknown suspects in connection with his abduction," the amber alert said, providing no further details. The child was initially identified as Jose Gonzalez in the amber alert, but officials later clarified that his first name is actually Josue.

"Law enforcement officials believe this child to be in grave or immediate danger," police said.
