Police in Ontario are investigating the deaths of four people at a home on Starratt Road in Ryerson Township near Burk's Falls, officials say. All four had obvious signs of trauma.
The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday when members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Almaguin Highlands Detachment received a 911 call for assistance from Starratt Road in Ryerson Township.
The scene is about 12 kilometers southwest of Burk's Falls, or 80 kilometers southwest of North Bay.
"Police located four adults at the scene; two male and two female. All were deceased with obvious signs of trauma," Ontario Provincial Police said in a statement on Saturday. "The identity of the victims is still being confirmed."
There was no word on whether the deaths are the result of a quadruple homicide or a triple homicide-suicide, but police said there is "no imminent threat to public safety."
A criminal investigation is ongoing with members of the OPP North East Region (NER) Crime Prevention and Criminal Investigations Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the NER Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit.
