The incident began just before 11 a.m. PT on Tuesday when a report of a possible active shooter was received, but there was no confirmation that shots had actually been fired or that there were any injuries. The installation has been put on lockdown.

"If not on the Camp Parks installation, stay away. The garrison is currently in a lockdown status," Camp Parks said, providing no further details about the incident. "As of yet, there has been no official confirmation of an active shooter on Camp Parks."

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said it had received a report of an intruder at the facility, but emphasized that there was no confirmation and a search involving drones is ongoing. "This scene is very under control and safe," the office said, adding that no threat was immediately found.

A large number of police vehicles were seen in the area as personnel on base were urged to seek shelter. Camp Parks, in use since the early 1940s, is a semi-active mobilization and training center for U.S. Army Reserve personnel.

UPDATE: At 3:30 p.m. PT, the all clear was issued. No shooter was found.
