1 dead, 4 injured in Chicago mass shooting

A 30-year-old woman has been killed and four others have been injured after a mass shooting on South Loomis Street on Chicago's South Side, police say. Two shooters are being sought. (more)

The incident happened at around 9:50 p.m. CT on Thursday when police were called to reports of multiple people shot in the area of 9600 South Loomis Street, which is near the intersection with 95th Street on the South Side.

According to the fire department, at least 5 people were shot, including a 30-year-old woman who was pronounced dead after being rushed to Holy Cross Hospital. A 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were critically injured while a 30-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries.

Police said that there were multiple crime scenes and two shooters are believed to have been involved, though there was no immediate word on the circumstances of the shooting, which happened in a residential area near Chicago International Charter School CICS Longwood.
