North Central Texas College in Corinth on lockdown

The North Central Texas College (NCTC) campus in Corinth, which serves Denton County, has been placed on lockdown due to reports of a gunman in the area, officials say. There is NO indication of an active shooter situation. (more)

The incident began just after 1 p.m. on Friday when the college sent out a LionALERT, warning students to shelter in place. "Armed person on foot reported in the area with a gun," the college said in a brief alert to the Corinth campus.

"If on campus: Remain sheltered in place," it added.

Police and other emergency services are responding to the college, but other details were not immediately available. There was no indication that the incident is an active shooter-type situation and there have been no reports of shots being fired.

As such, there have been no reports of injuries, but a search for the suspicious person is ongoing.
