Active shooter at Rose Medical Center in Denver, lockdown issued

Police and other emergency services are responding to unconfirmed reports of an active shooter at Rose Medical Center in Denver, officials and witnesses say, but only few details were immediately available. A lockdown is in effect. (more)
The incident began at around 4:30 p.m. when police were called to Rose Medical Center for a report that shots had been heard. This prompted the hospital to issue a "code silver", which means an active shooter may be in the area.
"DPD responding to report of shots heard at Rose Medical Center," a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department said, adding just before 5 p.m.: "No confirmation of shots fired. Investigation ongoing."
Rose Medical Center is on a precautionary lockdown as a result of the incident, and witnesses report that people have sought shelter in the emergency room and other areas as officers in tactical gear make sure that the area is safe.
All inbound traffic to Rose Medical Center is closed.
