Justin Carr dies after shooting at Charlotte protests

Justin Carr, a 26-year-old man who was shot in the head during Wednesday night's protests in Charlotte, has died of his injuries, officials say. No arrests in connection with the shooting have been made so far. (more)
The incident happened at 8:31 p.m. ET on Wednesday when gunfire erupted near the Omni Hotel in uptown Charlotte. Carr was shot in the head, but the circumstances around the shooting are still unclear.
In the hours after the shooting, city officials reported that Carr had already died, but they later clarified that he was still alive and in critical condition. He eventually succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon.
"Don't know how to feel! Don't know what to feel! Just feeling numb!. My baby was shot in the head for no apparent reason!" his mother, Ann Carr, wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday morning, before Justin succumbed to his injuries.
In the post, Ann Carr added: "I lay by his side and Praying real hard because my baby is fighting for his Life! Please if your gonna protest do it peacefully! ... I don't know who did this but Lord please bring my baby through this & give me strength cause those of you that know me know how close me & my Sons are!"
As of Thursday, no arrests have been made in connection with Carr's murder, but police officers were not involved. Anyone with information about Carr's murder is asked to call 704-432-TIPS to speak to a Homicide Unit Detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
