PUBLISHED Wed, October 05, 2016 - 12:28pm EDT

A freight train derailed in the Bronx on Wednesday morning, causing suspension of northbound Amtrak service from New York City. No injuries were caused by the derailment. A fire department spokeswoman said the accident took place after 10 a.m. The Amtrak services affected by the derailment are some of the busiest rail lines in the United States, providing service to Washington, D.C. and Boston. It's unclear how long the disruption will last or what caused the freight train to derail.
