A man and two children have been found deceased inside a house in the town of Hinckley in Leicestershire, police say. A woman was found to be injured and has been taken to an area hospital. (more)

The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday when residents called police to report hearing a disturbance at a house on Welwyn Road. Officers responded to the scene and called in the assistance of specialist officers and negotiators, who made contact with a man and woman.

Hours later, on early Wednesday morning, police transported a woman to an area hospital, where she remains in stable condition. When police gained access to the house, a man was found dead and, during a search of the residence, the bodies of two children were also located.

"It is not yet known what caused the deaths of the man and the two children," Leicestershire Police said in a statement. "Whilst post mortem examinations will take place to establish these details, at this stage officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

Other details about the details were not immediately available and the identities of those killed have not yet been released. "Enquiries have been underway since the small hours to locate the families of those involved in last night’s incident, and all the next of kin are now aware," police said.
