Shooting at Grand Junction High School in Colorado

Police and other emergency services are investigating a shooting incident at Grand Junction High School in the city of Grand Junction in Colorado, local officials say. One victim was found deceased of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. (more)





The incident happened just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday when emergency services were called to a shooting at the high school. Upon arrival, a person who was suffering from a gunshot wound was located inside the building.

"This is not an active shooter incident. This is an isolated tragedy," the Grand Junction Fire Department said in a brief statement.

Authorities said the gunshot wound is believed to be self-inflicted and they later confirmed that the victim had passed away. His or her identity was not immediately released but the victim is believed to have been a student at the school.

"An active investigation is underway," the fire department said.
