The incident began on early Thursday evening when the Harris County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call, claiming that there was an active shooter at LSC. A large number of officers, including a SWAT team, responded to the scene.

The school buildings were evacuated and officers carried out a thorough search of the campus, but nothing was found. "After a thorough investigation, Lone Star College and the Harris County Sheriff Department have determined the 911 call was a hoax," the school said in a brief statement.

No arrests were immediately made, but an investigation into the hoax call is ongoing. "We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when warranted," the school added in the statement.
