Three people have been found deceased after an apparent double murder-suicide at a residence outside Norcross in Georgia, a Gwinnett County police spokesperson says. Only few details were immediately available.

The incident was reported shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday when police received a call from a man who reported that a person had been shot at 702 Pebble Creek Drive, which is just southeast of the Green Corners Shopping Center.

"The caller was the father who lives at the home. He came home and discovered his wife, daughter, and son deceased from gunshot wounds," said Corporal Deon Washington, a spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Detectives identified the victims as a 55-year-old mother, her 26-year-old son and her 10-year-old daughter. "Detectives are investigating the possibility that the son was the shooter and ultimately turned the gun on himself," Washington explained.

Police are still investigating the scene and information about a possible motive was not immediately known.

"Detectives are working to determine the sequence of events that took place before the homicides and during," Washington said. "More importantly, we are investigating why a tragedy like this would happen one week before Thanksgiving. By answering those difficult questions, our hope is that the impacted families will be able to grieve and begin healing."

Gwinnett County Police have contacted local clergy and the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team for the relatives of those involved and police and police.
