Shooting at Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Police and other emergency services in Tennessee are responding to reports of a shooting at the Hamilton Place shopping mall in Chattanooga, officials and witnesses reports. There is no indication of an active shooter.
The incident began just after 4 p.m. on Friday when police were called to reports of a shooting in the mall's parking lot, but specific details about what happened were not immediate available. Police have arrested one person and detained a second person.
Witnesses at the scene reported a chaotic scene with some people being evacuated while other parts of the mall were placed on lockdown. Two people were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Although details about the circumstances of the shooting were not yet known, a spokesperson for the Chattanooga Police Department said the incident was not related to shopping. "No threat to public safety," police said.
In a brief statement, a spokesperson for the mall said the following: "We are aware of an incident at the mall and are working closely with local law enforcement as they continue their investigation."
Hamilton Place Mall, which first opened in 1987, is located at 2100 Hamilton Place Blvd in Chattanooga and is home to more than 200 stores and services. It is one of the largest shopping malls in Tennessee.
