Ohio Amber Alert: Young girl abducted from Columbus

An Ohio Amber Alert has been issued for 4-year-old Janylia Fails after she was allegedly abducted from Columbus by a man who stole the vehicle she was in. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. (more)

The abduction happened at about 7:31 a.m. on Monday when a car was stolen in the area of Chittenden Avenue and North 4th Street, which is just southeast of the Ohio State University campus in Columbus. The vehicle was running with Janylia sleeping in the backseat.

"The car was stolen while it was being warmed up," the Columbus Police Department said in a news release. "The child was in the backseat. The mother was loading her children in the car and went back to get another child when the car was stolen."

The vehicle that was stolen is a 2004 gray Chevy Impala with Ohio license plate GWF-9395. The vehicle has a dent on the rear passenger quarter panel and its green bumper has damage to the passenger side, police say.

The identity of the suspect is unknown but.he is described as a black male with light skin who was wearing a dark coat. Janylia is described as a 4-year-old black female who was last seen wearing a purple floral pattern jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes.

Anyone who sees either Janylia or the stolen vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Columbus Police Department if you have any other information that could help investigators.
