The Cosmopolitan hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip has been partly evacuated after someone was shot in the area, officials and witnesses say. There is no active shooter but a suspect is barricaded on a bus. (more)

The incident happened at about 10:48 a.m. PT on Saturday when shots were fired just outside The Cosmopolitan. One victim has been located, according to Officer Larry Hadfield of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

"The LVMPD is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on South Las Vegas Blvd. near Harmon," Hadfield said in a brief, emailed statement. "One victim has been transported to UMC trauma in unknown condition."

The reports initially sparked fears of an active shooter, but Hadfield emphasized that is not the case. Officers believe the suspect is on a bus that is on Las Vegas Boulevard and officers have surrounded the vehicle.

"This incident is being treated as a barricade at this time. There is no credible information that there is a second suspect and no other victims have been located," Hadfield added.

Some guests at The Cosmopolitan said they were being evacuated while guests on other floors were told to stay in their rooms. Las Vegas Boulevard has been closed between Flamingo and Harmon as a result of the shooting.
