Explosion at carnival in Villepinte near Paris injures 30

As many as 30 people have been injured, four of them seriously, after an explosion at a carnival in Villepinte in the Paris suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis, officials say. There is no connection to terrorism. (more)
The incident happened at about 5:15 p.m. local time on Saturday when an explosion occurred at a carnival in the commune of Villepinte, about 18 kilometers from the center of Paris. Video footage from the scene showed a fire burning at the scene.
About 30 people have been injured by the explosion or flying debris, most of whom suffered shock or minor to moderate injuries, according to the Le Parisien newspaper. At least 4 people have been seriously injured.
According to initial reports, the explosion is believed to have been caused by the ignition of fireworks and there is no link to terrorism. The blast and subsequent fire briefly caused panic and a large number of emergency services responded to the scene.
The incident occurred during an annual carnival in Villepinte.
