Nevada Amber Alert: Young girl abducted from Sparks

A Nevada Amber Alert has been issued for a young girl after she was allegedly taken when a car was stolen at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, officials say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. (more)

The incident happened at about 2:17 p.m. PT on Thursday when a man armed with a gun approached a woman in the Nugget Casino garage. He then demanded the woman's vehicle, in which a 7 or 8-year-old girl was sitting.

"The suspect fled with a young female juvenile," the Nevada Department of Public Safety said in a statement. It added that the stolen vehicle is a maroon 2012 Nissan Altima with Nevada license plate number 92F424.

The vehicle was last seen going northbound on State Route 445.

The suspect is described as a black male who is estimated to be about 28 to 35 years old with short curly hair and a thin mustache, standing 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing baggy jean shorts and a Dallas Cowboy Jersey with a Dallas Cowboy Star on the front and the number 21 on the back.

A photo or the name of the victim has not been released, but she is described as a black female with hair in multiple pig tails and wearing a dark yellow dress. There was no immediate word on the exact circumstances of her abduction.

Anyone who sees the child, the suspect, or the stolen vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Sparks Police Department at 775-232-7018 if you have any other information that could help investigators.
