The incident happened earlier on Friday when the two children were allegedly taken from Missoula. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Walter Watne, is the father of the children but does not have custody of them.

The amber alert from the Missoula Police Department said Walter was possibly under the influence of drugs when he took the children from their guardian. "Children are believed to be in danger," the alert said.

Walter is believed to have taken the children in a green 2003 Subaru Legacy Wagon with Montana license plate number BXE278. Investigators believe Walter may be taking the children to Butte, possibly via Interstate 90.

Walter is described as a 34-year-old white male with green eyes, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 142 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and jeans, according to the Missoula Police Department.

Kayliana is described as an 11-year-old white female with brown hair and green eyes, standing 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 90 pounds. Owen is a 9-year-old white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing 4 feet tall and weighing 60 pounds.

Anyone who sees Walter, Kayliana, Owen, or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Missoula Police Department at 406 552-6300 if you have any other information that could help investigators.
