California Amber Alert: Baby abducted from Fresno

A California Amber Alert has been issued for 5-month-old Osbaldo Gastelum after he was allegedly abducted from Fresno by a relative, local police say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. (more)

The incident happened at about 1 p.m. PT on Friday when Osbaldo was allegedly taken from Fresno, but specific details about the abduction were not immediately disclosed. The amber alert is in effect for Fresno County, Madera County, Tulare County, and Kings County.

The suspect has been identified as Jose Rosario Gastelum, who is described as a 30-year-old Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a purple tank top and shorts.

The suspect is believed to be the child's father, though police have not specifically confirmed that. Jose was last seen driving a white 2011 Honda Accord with California license plate number 7LUE318. It is unknown where he may be heading.

The victim, Osbaldo, is described as a 5-month-old Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black and red Mickey Mouse onesie, according to the amber alert from the Fresno Police Department.

Anyone who sees Osbaldo, Jose, or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000 if you have any other information that could help investigators find them.
