North Carolina Amber Alert: Baby girl abducted from Haywood County

A North Carolina Amber Alert has been issued for 3-month-old Cali Marie Cochran after she was allegedly abducted from Haywood County by their parents, local officials say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. (more)

The suspects have been identified as 39-year-old Rex Douglas Cochran Jr. and 31-year-old Heather Marie Cochran. The amber alert, which was issued on early Wednesday morning, provided no information about the circumstances of the abduction.

The couple was last seen traveling east on I-40 towards South Carolina and may be heading for Ocala, Florida, or Valdosta, Georgia. Two possible suspect vehicles have been identified: a gray GMC Suburban with North Dakota license plate 489-AWH or a blue 2001 Ford Mustang with unknown plates.

Rex is described as a 39-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 185 pounds. Heather is described as a 31-year-old white female with brown hair and green eyes, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds.

Heather has a tattoo on the right side of her neck, below her jaw, with the text "Faith."

Anyone who sees either the suspects or the child is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Haywood County Sheriff`s Office at (828) 452-6666 or (828) 452-6600 if you have any other information that could help investigators.
