Shooting scare at Fertitta Hall at USC Los Angeles

PUBLISHED Mon, October 02, 2017 - 3:33pm EDT

Police and other emergency services responded to Fertitta Hall at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles after unconfirmed reports of a shooting, officials say. The all-clear was given when nothing was found.

The incident began at about 12:17 p.m. PT on Monday when police received a call about possible shots being fired at Fertitta Hall. The university sent out an alert to students a short time later, warning them to shelter in place.

Officers searched Fertitta Hall and the surrounding area as a precaution, but no evidence of a shooting could be found, and there were no reports of any injuries. "[A] systematic search was conducted in coordination with USC DPS. No danger to community," the LAPD said.

Details about the original call were not immediately released, but the all-clear was given and students may resume their normal activities.
