California Amber Alert: Jefferson Gomes abducted from Fort Tejon

A California Amber Alert has been issued for 1-month-old Jefferson Gomes after he was allegedly abducted from Fort Tejon by a relative, officials say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. (more)

The incident happened at about 1 p.m. PT on Friday when Jefferson was allegedly taken from Fort Tejon, but specific details about the circumstances of the abduction were not immediately released by the California Highway Patrol.

The suspect has been identified as Jeffrey Michael Gomes, who is described as a 42-year-old Hispanic male, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 207 pounds. He is believed to be wearing a black and grey long sleeve shirt, a grey hat, and dark blue jeans.

Jeffrey is believed to have taken Jefferson in a 2007 white Chevy 2500 pick up truck with California license plate 02390P1. "The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous," the amber alert said.

Photos of either the suspect or the victim have not been released. Jefferson is described as a 1-month-old Asian male with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing about 12 pounds. He was last seen wearing a navy blue onesie.

Anyone who sees Jefferson, Jeffrey, or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the California Highway Patrol if you have any other information that could help investigators.
