A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance of Swanage teenager Gaia Pope, according to Dorset Police. The teen - who is believed to have been killed - remains missing.

Gaia, 19 and from Langton Matravers, was staying at an address in Swanage when she disappeared on the afternoon of 7 November. CCTV footage later emerged which showed Gaia running on Morrison Road before she vanished.

Search warrants were executed at two addresses in Swanage on Monday afternoon, after which a 19-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder. There was no immediate word on their identities, but police say both suspects are known to Gaia.

"It has been almost a week since Gaia's last confirmed sighting and she has not been seen or heard from since," said Senior Investigating Officer Neil Devoto. "We have looked through CCTV that covers the Swanage area, including transport hubs, and there is nothing to suggest she has left the area."

Devoto added: "Her disappearance is completely out of character and, following our extensive enquiries, we sadly now believe that she may have come to harm. We have not yet found Gaia and our searches will continue."

Search efforts were continuing on Monday evening and investigators are asking for anyone with information to contact Dorset Police. You can contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting incident number 9:179.
