Massive fire erupts in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood

A massive fire has broken out in the 1300 block of 32nd Place in the Bridgeport neighborhood on Chicago's South Side, officials say. Only few details were immediately available but multiple buildings are on fire.

The incident began just before 8 p.m. CT on Friday when firefighters were called to the 1300 block of 32nd Place for a fire at a 2.5-story building under construction. The building was fully involved, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Officials say multiple buildings are on fire, including one building which is in danger of collapsing. Photos and video from the scene showed a massive blaze affecting multiple structures and the flames are visible from far away.

The fire was declared to be under control just before 8:30 p.m. and here were no immediate reports of casualties, according to the fire department. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
