The incident happened at about 4:45 p.m. PT on Saturday when emergency services were called to reports of a plane crash at 6246 Chandler Drive, which is near Interstate 805 and Balboa Avenue in the Clairemont community.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said a Beechcraft BE36 Bonanza aircraft had crashed into a home about a half mile west of Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport. It is believed that four people were on board the aircraft.

Photos and videos from the scene showed at least one home engulfed in flames, but no one was at home, except for a dog which did not survive. Two people on the plane were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The conditions of the other two people is still unknown.

The cause of Saturday's accident was not immediately known, but both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to investigate.
