Kansas Amber Alert: Shamya Reed abducted from Kansas City

A Kansas Amber Alert has been issued for 1-year-old Shamya Reed after she was allegedly taken from northwest Kansas City, local officials say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon when the child was allegedly taken from the area of North 61st Street and Farrow Avenue, which is located in the Bethel Welborn neighborhood. Specific details about the kidnapping were not immediately known.

Shamya is believed to have been taken by 18-year-old Ricardo Wheeler and an unidentified black female, according to Kansas City Police. They are believed to have taken the child in a 1990s grey Oldsmobile Alero vehicle.

Photos of the victim or suspects were not immediately released, but Shamya was last seen wearing a black shirt with the text "beautiful" and blue jeans.

Anyone who sees Shamya or the suspects is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Kansas City Police Department if you have any other information that could help investigators in their search.
