              The United States has warned its citizens of a possible terror attack against U.S. interests in South Africa. A brief security message issued by the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria said the mission had received information that extremists may be targeting American interests in South Africa, which may include U.S. government facilities and other locations identifiable with U.S. business interests. "There is no additional information as to timing or potential targeting," the message said. Other information was not released, but the embassy urged American citizens in South Africa to remain aware and vigilant of their surroundings and to take "appropriate steps" to enhance their personal security. The United States rarely issues terror alerts for South Africa, which is not typically associated with Islamist terrorism.

              South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who was awarded the 1984 Nobel Peace Prize for his leadership role in the campaign to end the apartheid, has again been hospitalized, just weeks after he underwent treatment for a persistent infection. "We can confirm Arch back in hospital," spokesman Roger Friedman said by email, providing no other details. Tutu's daughter, the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu, said the 83-year-old Nobel peace laureate was readmitted to hospital on Monday night for an "inflammation," AFP reported.
