At least 16 people were killed when a passenger van collided with two other vehicles and caught fire in southern Mexico, according to local officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The crash happened on Saturday on the Campeche\u2013M\u00e9rida highway near Calkin\u00ed, according to Mayor Milton Ulises Mill\u00e1n Atoche. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities said the van was traveling toward Calkin\u00ed with workers returning from M\u00e9rida when it struck a car and then collided with a trailer truck, causing the van to split in two and burst into flames. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local officials said<\/a> 16 people were killed in the accident, most of them burned, while one survivor remains hospitalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The governments of Campeche and Yucat\u00e1n said on Sunday that several bodies have already been identified and returned to relatives.
