Its epicenter was located in the city of Columbia in Howard County, roughly 17 miles northeast of Washington, D.C., and 13 miles southwest of Baltimore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents reported hearing a loud boom and feeling brief shaking. \u201cWas there an explosion in Howard County, Maryland? I felt the ground rumble in Columbia,\u201d one resident, Jimmy Shea, wrote on social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another resident said, \u201cIt felt like a big boom, like something very large was dropped nearby. We did not feel any shaking in our house.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Howard County Police Department <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HCPDNews\/status\/1982926854358171893\">said<\/a> there were no reports of damage.
