The woman shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during an operation in Minneapolis has been identified as a 37-year-old U.S. citizen from the Twin Cities area, according to local media citing her mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman has been identified as Renee Nicole Good, her mother told the Minnesota Star Tribune<\/a>. The outlet reported that Good lived in the St. Paul\u2013Minneapolis area, though her mother did not specify her exact city of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The shooting occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis, during a tense situation involving agents from ICE who were conducting an operation amid protests, according to authorities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Good was driving an SUV that appeared to be blocking the street during the operation. As ICE agents approached the vehicle and attempted to open the driver\u2019s door, she began to drive away while another officer was positioned between the front and side of the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The officer fired three shots at the driver as the vehicle moved forward. After being shot, the driver veered out of control and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle parked along the street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Video from the scene showed a tense confrontation shortly afterward, with residents shouting at ICE agents. Footage circulating online appeared to show a delay in medical aid being rendered to Good in the minutes following the shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Good\u2019s mother described her daughter as compassionate and devoted to helping others. \u201cShe was one of the kindest people I\u2019ve ever known,\u201d she told the Minnesota Star Tribune. \u201cShe was extremely compassionate. She\u2019s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her mother said Good had three children and was not involved in any ICE protest groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a social media post<\/a> that the woman was a \u201crioter\u201d who \u201cweaponized her vehicle,\u201d alleging she attempted to run over federal officers an an attempt to kill them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n DHS described the incident as an \u201cact of domestic terrorism\u201d and said officers involved were injured but are expected to make full recoveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized<\/a> the DHS statement, saying he had reviewed the video footage. \u201cDon\u2019t believe this propaganda machine,\u201d Walz said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a separate statement<\/a>, President Trump said he had also reviewed the video, describing Good’s actions as \u201cdisorderly, obstructing and resisting,\u201d and claiming she \u201cviolently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump said the agent fired in self-defense and said it was \u201chard to believe\u201d the officer survived, adding that he is recovering in a hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NEW: Second video shows ICE shooting in Minneapolis.
