U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham said a U.S. action on Iran could happen soon, as President Donald Trump said the administration is reviewing military options following reports of protesters being killed during escalating unrest in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking Sunday night at a fundraising event, Graham said he cut his remarks short because events could be imminent. \u201cI don\u2019t know what, but this might be the night,\u201d he said, referring to possible U.S. action. \u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of time now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis tyrannical regime needs to end,” Graham added. “We need to end this for the good people of Iran, for ourselves, and for the people of Israel.” He said Iran\u2019s leadership \u201cneeds to go,\u201d adding, \u201cIf we could pull this off, it\u2019d be the biggest change in the Middle East in a thousand years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier Sunday, Trump spoke<\/a> to reporters aboard Air Force One, saying the administration was closely monitoring reports of deaths linked to protests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere seem to be some people killed who aren\u2019t supposed to be killed,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe\u2019re looking at it very seriously. The military is looking at it, we\u2019re looking at some very strong options, and we\u2019ll make a determination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m getting an hourly report, and we\u2019re going to make a determination,\u201d Trump added. \u201cSome of the protesters were killed through stampeding. There are so many of them. Some of them were shot. People have been shot, and we\u2019re looking at it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The comments come amid repeated warnings from Trump that the United States would consider striking Iran if protesters were killed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The protests began in late December and have escalated in recent days, with large demonstrations reported in multiple cities, including Tehran. Witnesses contacted by media outlets have reported hundreds of deaths as a result of a crackdown by Iranian forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gop.
