Ten people are dead, including the suspect, after a mass shooting at a secondary school and a nearby residence in Tumbler Ridge, a small town in western Canada. At least 30 others were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident began at approximately 1:20 p.m. Tuesday when police received a report of an active shooter at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Authorities issued an emergency phone alert as officers arrived at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police said officers entered the school and discovered six victims dead. The individual believed to be the shooter was also found deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the initial emergency alert, police described the suspect as a female with brown hair wearing a dress. The suspect’s identity and motive have not been released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Medical officials said two victims were airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, while a third victim died during transport. Approximately 25 others were treated at a local medical center for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities later identified a second crime scene at a nearby home, where two additional victims were found dead. Officers were seen conducting further searches of properties in the area to determine if anyone else was involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With 10 dead, the shooting is among the deadliest mass killings in Canadian history. The country’s deadliest mass shooting was a 2020 rampage in Nova Scotia which left 22 people dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
