One person has died and four others, including a 3-year-old child, were injured in a shooting at an apartment complex in southeastern Louisiana, according to officials. Investigators said the 26-year-old man who was killed is believed to have been one of at least two shooters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The shooting happened Thursday at about 11:45 a.m. on Willow Villa Road in the Hammond area, according to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker. Hammond is located about 45 miles northwest of New Orleans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt about 11:45 today that\u2019s when we got the first 911 call about a disturbance involving gunfire,\u201d Sticker said. \u201cFive people were shot, we have one of those deceased, that\u2019s a 26 year old male.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sticker said the other four victims, including a 3-year-old, were hospitalized with injuries ranging from stable to critical condition. He said the victims were \u201cbasically hit as collateral damage\u201d during the exchange of gunfire between the two shooters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have identified at least two shooters,\u201d Sticker said. \u201cWe are looking to confirm whether or not there was a third individual involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sticker said investigators believe the 26-year-old man who died was one of the shooters and that a second suspected gunman is in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe incident involves a disturbance that went from a verbal argument to physical altercation to ultimately gunplay,\u201d he said. \u201cBoth parties knew each other. We don\u2019t know the relationship of those two parties.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sticker said the gunfire took place in the middle of the street near a driveway. A residence about five houses away was also involved, and investigators found evidence suggesting a third gun may have been used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
