President Trump said that the United States had no prior knowledge of Israel\u2019s strike on Iran\u2019s South Pars gas field and that Qatar had no role in it. He also warned that if Iran attacks Qatar\u2019s LNG facilities again, the United States would \u201cmassively blow up the entirety\u201d of South Pars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump made the comments after Iran launched ballistic missiles at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, the country\u2019s main liquefied natural gas and gas-processing hub, in retaliation for Israel\u2019s strike on Iran\u2019s South Pars gas field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a social media post<\/a> on Wednesday night, Trump said Israel had struck \u201ca major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran\u201d and said only \u201ca relatively small section of the whole\u201d was hit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump said the United States \u201cknew nothing about this particular attack,\u201d and added that Qatar \u201cwas in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump added that no further Israeli attacks would be carried out against South Pars unless Iran attacks Qatar again. He said the United States would, with or without Israel\u2019s help or consent, \u201cmassively blow up the entirety\u201d of the South Pars gas field if Qatar\u2019s LNG facilities are targeted again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar\u2019s LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
