An overnight shooting near the White House led Secret Service officers to search for a possible vehicle and a person of interest, according to officials. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident happened shortly after midnight in the area of Lafayette Park, the park just north of the White House, the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. Officers searched the park and the surrounding area but did not find a suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Secret Service Police, in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Park Police, are actively seeking a possible vehicle and a person of interest,” the statement added. “Our investigation is active.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
White House operations remained normal, but the Secret Service said a heightened security posture was put in place and road closures remained in effect in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
