Two possible shooters remain at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shooting happened at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, in the northeast part of the city near D.C. Route 295, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=D3zr9_SsX60\">according<\/a> to Metropolitan Police Department interim chief Jeffery Carroll. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found two juveniles suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police believe one of the victims is 12 years old and the other may be 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shooting happened in the parking lot area of a convenience store, where the two victims were part of a larger group, Carroll said. Investigators believe two shooters approached the group and opened fire, hitting both children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere was a large number of shots that were fired in a very small period of time,\u201d Carroll said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police said traffic was moving along nearby D.C. 295 when the shooting happened and asked anyone who may have been in the area or seen anything to contact investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carroll said Washington had seen an uptick in fatal shootings over the past week, but that there did not appear to be any connection between those cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A child was killed and another was injured when two shooters opened fire on a group of young people outside a convenience store in Washington, D.C., according to police.
