President Trump said he has ordered the U.S. military to hold off on an attack on Iran and extend the ceasefire after Pakistan asked for more time for Iranian leaders to come up with a unified proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump said in a social media post<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other,” Trump added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement came after reports that an expected trip by Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for a second round of talks with Iranian officials had been put on hold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also followed Iranian state media reports that negotiators from Tehran had informed the United States through a Pakistani intermediary that they would not attend further talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tasnim, an Iranian semi-official outlet, said Tehran had definitively decided not to attend Wednesday\u2019s planned talks in Islamabad and saw no immediate prospect of joining future negotiations. It said Iranian officials told the U.S. side through a Pakistani intermediary that taking part under the current conditions would be a “waste of time.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Tasnim, Iran believes it accepted a ceasefire and follow-up talks under an initial 10-point framework that was also accepted by the United States, but that Washington later violated those terms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outlet said Tehran also viewed U.S. demands in the first round of talks in Islamabad as excessive and objected to the continuation of what it described as a U.S. naval blockade after Iran moved to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
