Emergency services were called at about 9 p.m. Monday to a unit block on Todd Street in Warrawong, a suburb south of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, after reports of a fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District were told the man had been set alight by an unknown person before the suspect ran from the scene, according to NSW Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man was treated by paramedics and residents for serious burn injuries before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local media reported that the victim had been doused in petrol before he was set on fire. Police have not released the man\u2019s identity or said how the incident unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
