The suspect was arrested after flagging down responding officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stabbing happened at about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday when West Valley officers responded to a call of unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Erwin Street in Tarzana, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lapdonline.org\/newsroom\/murder-investigation-in-west-valley-area-nr26123ag\/\">LAPD<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 911 caller told dispatchers, \u201cI am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When officers arrived, they found Handy, 81, unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to his chest. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect flagged down responding officers nearby and told them he was the person they were looking for, according to police. Investigators said he lived at the home with his mother, who was Handy\u2019s girlfriend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police identified the suspect as Michael Gledhill, 44, of Tarzana. He was arrested and booked at Van Nuys Jail on suspicion of murder. His bail was set at $2 million, according to the LAPD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Handy was a veteran character actor with a career spanning nearly five decades, appearing in films such as \u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d \u201cJumanji,\u201d \u201cLogan,\u201d \u201cUnbreakable,\u201d \u201cArachnophobia,\u201d \u201cThe Rocketeer,\u201d \u201cK-9\u201d and \u201cThe Verdict.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On television, he had recurring roles on \u201cProfiler,\u201d \u201cAlias,\u201d \u201cNYPD Blue\u201d and \u201cMelrose Place,\u201d along with appearances on \u201cThe West Wing,\u201d \u201cCriminal Minds,\u201d \u201cLaw &amp; Order,\u201d \u201cMurder, She Wrote\u201d and \u201cThe X-Files.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detectives are investigating the murder.
