The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday near 44th Street and Seventh Avenue, in the heart of Times Square. The New York Police Department said it was investigating the shots fired and limiting pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the bow tie, the central area where Broadway and Seventh Avenue intersect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Live footage from an EarthCam stream<\/a> showed the moment shots were fired. At least two people could be seen in the street with what appeared to be firearms before several shots were heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fewer than 10 shots could be heard on the stream before the suspects ran from the area as police officers chased them on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am in NYC at Sephora in Times Square and there is a active shooter outside,” a witness wrote on X<\/a>. “The store has locked everyone inside.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Police described the incident as shots fired, not an active shooter situation, and said no injuries have been reported. The intersection was briefly closed by police before partially reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n No details about the person in custody were immediately released.
