At least 27 people were killed and more than 90 others injured after Russia launched more than 70 missiles and nearly 500 drones at Ukraine, with the main attack aimed at Kyiv, according to Ukrainian officials. Rescue crews are still clearing rubble and searching for more victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack early Thursday caused damage at more than 20 locations across Kyiv, most of them residential buildings, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a> said. One of the hardest-hit sites was a 9-story apartment building in the Desnianskyi district, which partially collapsed and left people trapped under the debris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine\u2019s State Emergency Service said 27 people have been killed and more than 90 others injured in Kyiv. Recovery operations are still ongoing as of Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said earlier that five medical workers and drivers were injured when a building housing an ambulance substation was hit. One of the injured, a paramedic, was reported to be in extremely critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Damage was also reported in several other districts of the capital, including Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi and Podilskyi. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, officials said a hotel roof caught fire and a medical facility was partially damaged, while in Holosiivskyi a fire broke out in a high-rise building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zelenskyy said Russia fired more than 70 missiles of various types, nearly half of them ballistic, along with almost 500 attack drones, including jet-powered Shaheds. He said Ukrainian air defenses shot down a significant number of the incoming weapons, but not all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main strike was aimed at Kyiv, but other parts of the country were also hit. Five people were injured in the Kharkiv region, including a child, and two more were injured in the Kyiv region, where officials said civilian infrastructure was struck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strikes were also reported in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
