‘Superman’ star Margot Kidder dead at 69

Actress Margot Kidder, who was well-known for her role as Lois Lane in the original “Superman” films, has died in Montana, local officials say. She was 69 years old.

Kidder was found unconscious and not breathing at her home in Livingston on Sunday. The cause of her death was not immediately known, but law enforcement said there is no indication of foul play.

Kidder, who was born in Canada in 1948, appeared in dozens of movies and TV series. She starred as Lois Lane in the original “Superman” film series in the 1970s and 80s, opposite Christopher Reeve as Superman.

Kidder struggled with bipolar disorder and suffered a highly-publicized manic episode in 1996, after which she became an advocate for mental health. She was married 3 times but was divorced since 1984. She is survived by her daughter.
