1 killed, 2 injured in shooting near Atlantic Station mall in Atlanta
One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting near Atlantic Station in Atlanta, according to police. The shooting happened inside a building just across the street from the retail and entertainment district.
The shooting happened at about 5:47 p.m. Monday at 230 18th Street NW, when Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded to a report of multiple people shot, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Officers found three adults with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police said a 32-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were taken to a hospital by ambulance, alert, conscious and breathing. A second adult male victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
Atlanta police said the shooting did not happen on Atlantic Station property, but nearby. WXIA reported the address is across the street from the Regal movie theater and other shops and restaurants at Atlantic Station, a large mixed-use district in Midtown Atlanta.
Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to determine what led to the shooting. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
