1 dead, multiple injured after shooting outside club in Austin, Texas
An altercation leading to gunfire outside a club in Austin, Texas left one person dead and multiple others injured, according to police. The suspect remains at large.
The shooting happened at about 8:40 p.m. on Friday at 5012 East 7th Street, the address of the Cabana Club, when officers were called for a disturbance involving a group of people in and out the club, Austin Police Department spokesperson Aaron Townsend said. The call was later upgraded after shots were heard.
Townsend said officers arrived within minutes and found an adult man outside the back of the club with “obvious” trauma to his body. Life-saving measures were attempted, but he was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m.
Two other people also went to local hospitals, Townsend said, though their conditions were not immediately available. He added that other people also self-transported to area hospitals, but police did not say how many.
Police said the shooting happened outside the club and described it as an isolated incident. No weapon had been recovered as of late Friday.
Police said there was no further threat to the public and that detectives were working to identify and locate the person responsible.
