Alberta Amber Alert: Lanakai Morrison abducted near Beaverlodge

Published on

An Alberta Amber Alert has been issued for 6-year-old Lanakai Morrison after he was allegedly abducted by his non-custodial mother near Beaverlodge, local officials say. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately.

The incident happened on Tuesday when Lanakai was allegedly taken by his biological mother, 35-year-old Krista Morrison, from Valhalla Centre, which is a small community in Alberta, just north of Beaverlodge.

Details about the circumstances of Lanakai’s disappearance were not immediately released but an emergency alert sent by the province described it as an abduction. It’s also unclear why it took more than a day to issue the alert, which was issued on late Thursday night and covers everyone within a 200 kilometer radius of Beaverlodge. This includes parts of British Columbia.

The woman’s partner, 35-year-old Daniel Ludwig, and another child, 4-year-old Karl Morrison, are also believed to be traveling with them. It’s unknown where they might be heading but they may be traveling in a 2015 Toyota Tundra with Alberta license plate number CTN9517.

Lanakai is described as a 6-year-old boy of slight build with long, light brown hair and brown eyes. His mother is described as a 35-year-old female of medium build with long, dark brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall.

The woman’s partner, Daniel Ludwig, is described as a 35-year-old male of large build with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall.

Anyone who sees Lanakai, the mother, her partner, or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Beaverlodge RCMP at 780-354-2955 if you have other information that could help investigators.
