Tesla CEO Elon Musk says saboteur caught within company’s ranks
A saboteur has been caught at Tesla, chief executive Elon Musk said on Monday, claiming that the employee made code changes and sent highly sensitive data to unknown third parties.
Musk described the sabotage as “extensive and damaging” in an internal email, according to CNBC. He wrote that the employee admitted to sabotage and was disgruntled because he was denied a promotion.
Musk said the employee had used false usernames to make direct code changes to the Tesla Manufacturing Operating System. He also sent large amounts of highly sensitive data to unknown third parties, Musk said.
There was no immediate word on the employee’s identity.
Musk has been under pressure for weeks to step up production of the Model 3 car. He said in Monday’s email that Tesla has enemies and warned employees to be “extremely vigilant” in the coming weeks.
